Yiwen received his PhD degree in psychology, which he examined the relationship between culture and neuropsychological testing. He has attained substantial research experience in mental health, neuropsychology, and cross-cultural psychology. He was part of a cutting-edge project at the Institute of Mental Health, uncovering longitudinal trends of early psychosis in a nationwide study in Singapore. Yiwen also attained good experience of working clinically in multidisciplinary teams under the NHS (UK). He has a keen interest in broader aspects of psychology, in particular social psychology, cultural psychology, and research methodologies such as psychometric testing, qualitative methods, and clinical research. He has since expanded on his repertoire by being a research associate with NUS Lee Kwan Yew School of Public Policy, conducting ground-breaking studies on social perceptions of risk with the Institute of Understanding Public Risk. Yiwen is motivated to work collaboratively and lead research to provide unique contributions to the wider scientific community. He has made publications in journals such as The Clinical Neuropsychologist, Culture and Brain, and Schizophrenia Research.
